Obama Fiddles, While Gas Prices SOAR!

Why is it that politicians TELL us what they intend to do, and somehow people REFUSE to believe them when they carry through with their plans?

Barack Obama: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." (January 2008)

He has said much the same about gas prices, wishing for 'a more gradual upward adjustment of prices' than we are currently experiencing.

Oil and gas are commodities. Supply and demand are the most important factors determining the pre-tax price of both. If the world oil supply increases marginally and demand increases faster, the price will go up in a commensurate fashion. That's the world's present situation. With the vast increase in demand coming from China and India, the price for a barrel of oil has been rising. So the oil companies are paying more for a barrel of oil. Demand is outpacing supply, at the same time that OPEC is holding on to crude oil reserves.

There are two factors that affect the gasoline supply. Municipalities across America demand different blends starting in late spring and early summer to control smog and air pollution levels. Some refineries have to shut down and retool every year to produce these "boutique blends" of fuel. This interruption alone results in supply shortages and is made even WORSE by the fact that environmentalists have led the charge in blocking the construction of new refineries since the 1970's! This is a national security issue folks.

The Obama administration is currently pushing policies that will dramatically increase the price of gas. Over a year ago Obama slapped a moratorium on all new deep water drilling, and then bottled up all applications for new drilling in the bureaucracy of the Interior Department. Not only did this adversely effect supply, but that threat of less supply of crude has resulted in speculation that also drives the price up, and makes us even MORE dependant on foreign oil sources. He has been found to be in contempt of court by Federal Judge Martin Feldman for illegally blocking new drilling in the Gulf.

Add to these supply interruptions the rampant inflation caused by runaway federal spending and printing of money, and you have the proverbial "perfect storm" for rising gas prices, and it was done ON PURPOSE!

Competition is also a significant factor in gas prices and the one we consumers understand the best. That final 10 cents in the price of a gallon is the result of one station owner trying his best to beat the guy down the street. They don't make much on gas, the store uses it's gas to get you to buy beer, silly lighters, and Doritos! Competition keeps local prices as low as they can possibly be.

So when politicians like Obama lie to you about the big, mean, greedy oil companies “hosing” the consumer, just remember that the price of gas is determined by supply and demand, state and federal taxes, inflation, and local competition. Remember who those politicians are, and... SEND THE LIARS PACKING COME NEXT ELECTION FOR INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE!!

A Viewer's Guide to the State of the Union Address

Tonight the airwaves will be filled with flowery oratory and rhetoric, all of it designed to convince you to do one thing: SPEND MORE MONEY THAN WE TAKE IN!
Be prepared for a barrage of poll tested words and phrases whose sole purpose is the purchase of votes, enriching the labor unions, and the creation of absolutely crushing, generational debt.

The President will call for new "investments in our infrastrucure" tonight, assuring us that we are falling behind our global competitors as our "crumbling infrastructure fails to meet the needs of the 21st century." Sounds good, right? After all, no one in their right mind wants our infrastructure to crumble.

Keep this in mind: We've YET to account for over two trillion dollars in spending in the last 2 years. Wouldn't it be nice to know the whereabouts of the national treasure before we agree to new spending?

When the President says the word "INVESTMENT", he means more spending that our children will be forced to repay to the Chinese communists. One more time---

"INVESTMENT" = Going farther into debt to the Chinese communists.

Inside of seven years America will be paying the Chicoms SO much that we will be fully funding the People's Liberation Army. Our children will be working overtime just to pay the interest on the debt to their bankers in Beijing. The quality of their lives will be terribly diminished by the economic ruination left to them by our "Hopey Changey" President and the insane spending policies of the last two Congresses.

Principle 1 - The only reliable basis for sound government and just human relations is Natural Law.

Natural law is God's law. There are certain laws which govern the entire universe, and just as Thomas Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence, there are laws which govern in the affairs of men which are "the laws of nature and of nature's God."

Principle 2 - A free people cannot survive under a republican constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." - Benjamin Franklin

Principle 3 - The most promising method of securing a virtuous people is to elect virtuous leaders.

"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who ... will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man." - Samuel Adams

Principle 4 - Without religion the government of a free people cannot be maintained.

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.... And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion." - George Washington

Principle 5 - All things were created by God, therefore upon him all mankind are equally dependent, and to him they are equally responsible .

The American Founding Fathers considered the existence of the Creator as the most fundamental premise underlying all self-evident truth. They felt a person who boasted he or she was an atheist had just simply failed to apply his or her divine capacity for reason and observation.

Principle 6 - All mankind were created equal.

The Founders knew that in these three ways, all mankind are theoretically treated as:

1.Equal before God.
2.Equal before the law.
3.Equal in their rights.

Principle 7 - The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things.

The Founders recognized that the people cannot delegate to their government any power except that which they have the lawful right to exercise themselves.

Principle 8 - Mankind are endowed by God with certain unalienable rights.

"Those rights, then, which God and nature have established, and are therefore called natural rights, such as are life and liberty, need not the aid of human laws to be more effectually invested in every man than they are; neither do they receive any additional strength when declared by the municipal [or state] laws to be inviolable. On the contrary, no human legislation has power to abridge or destroy them, unless the owner [of the right] shall himself commit some act that amounts to a forfeiture." - William Blackstone

Principle 9 - To protect human rights, God has revealed a code of divine law.

"The doctrines thus delivered we call the revealed or divine law, and they are to be found only in the Holy Scriptures. These precepts, when revealed, are found by comparison to be really a part of the original law of nature, as they tend in all their consequences to man's felicity." - William Blackstone

Principle 10 - The God-given right to govern is vested in the sovereign authority of the whole people.

"The fabric of American empire ought to rest on the solid basis of the consent of the people. The streams of national power ought to flow immediately from that pure, original fountain of all legislative authority." - Alexander Hamilton

Principle 11 - The majority of the people may alter or abolish a government which has become tyrannical.

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes ... but when a long train of abuses and usurpations ... evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." - Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence

Principle 12 - The United States of America shall be a republic.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America

And to the republic for which it stands...."

Principle 13 - A Constitution should protect the people from the frailties of their rulers.

"If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.... [But lacking these] you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself." - James Madison

Principle 14 - Life and liberty are secure only so long as the rights of property are secure .

John Locke reasoned that God gave the earth and everything in it to the whole human family as a gift. Therefore the land, the sea, the acorns in the forest, the deer feeding in the meadow belong to everyone "in common." However, the moment someone takes the trouble to change something from its original state of nature, that person has added his ingenuity or labor to make that change. Herein lies the secret to the origin of "property rights."

Principle 15 - The highest level of prosperity occurs when there is a free-market economy and a minimum of government regulations.

Prosperity depends upon a climate of wholesome stimulation with four basic freedoms in operation:

1. The Freedom to try.
2. The Freedom to buy.
3. The Freedom to sell.
4.The Freedom to fail.

Principle 16 - The government should be separated into three branches .

"I call you to witness that I was the first member of the Congress who ventured to come out in public, as I did in January 1776, in my Thoughts on Government ... in favor of a government with three branches and an independent judiciary. This pamphlet, you know, was very unpopular. No man appeared in public to support it but yourself." - John Adams

Principle 17 - A system of checks and balances should be adopted to prevent the abuse of power by the different branches of government.

"It will not be denied that power is of an encroaching nature and that it ought to be effectually restrained from passing the limits assigned to it." - James Madison

Principle 18 - The unalienable rights of the people are most likely to be preserved if the principles of government are set forth in a written Constitution.

The structure of the American system is set forth in the Constitution of the United States and the only weaknesses which have appeared are those which were allowed to creep in despite the Constitution.

Principle 19 - Only limited and carefully defined powers should be delegated to government, all others being retained by the people.

The Tenth Amendment is the most widely violated provision of the bill of rights. If it had been respected and enforced America would be an amazingly different country than it is today. This amendment provides:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Principle 20 - Efficiency and dispatch require that the government operate according to the will of the majority, but constitutional provisions must be made to protect the rights of the minority.

"Every man, by consenting with others to make one body politic under one government, puts himself under an obligation to every one of that society to submit to the determination of the majority, and to be concluded [bound] by it." - John Locke

Principle 21 - Strong local self-government is the keystone to preserving human freedom.

"The way to have good and safe government is not to trust it all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly the functions he is competent [to perform best]. - Thomas Jefferson

Principle 22 - A free people should be governed by law and not by the whims of men.

"The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings, capable of laws, where there is no law there is no freedom. For liberty is to be free from restraint and violence of others, which cannot be where there is no law." - John Locke

Principle 23 - A free society cannot survive as a republic without a broad program of general education.

"They made an early provision by law that every town consisting of so many families should be always furnished with a grammar school. They made it a crime for such a town to be destitute of a grammar schoolmaster for a few months, and subjected it to a heavy penalty. So that the education of all ranks of people was made the care and expense of the public, in a manner that I believe has been unknown to any other people, ancient or modern. The consequences of these establishments we see and feel every day [written in 1765]. A native of America who cannot read and write is as rare ... as a comet or an earthquake." John Adams

Principle 24 - A free people will not survive unless they stay strong.

"To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace." - George Washington

Principle 25 - "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none."- Thomas Jefferson, given in his first inaugural address.

Principle 26 - The core unit which determines the strength of any society is the family; therefore the government should foster and protect its integrity.

"There is certainly no country in the world where the tie of marriage is more respected than in America, or where conjugal happiness is more highly or worthily appreciated." Alexis de Tocqueville

Principle 27 - The burden of debt is as destructive to human freedom as subjugation by conquest.

"We are bound to defray expenses [of the war] within our own time, and are unauthorized to burden posterity with them.... We shall all consider ourselves morally bound to pay them ourselves and consequently within the life [expectancy] of the majority." - Thomas Jefferson

Principle 28 - The United States has a manifest destiny to eventually become a glorious example of God's law under a restored Constitution that will inspire the entire human race.

The Founders sensed from the very beginning that they were on a divine mission. Their great disappointment was that it didn't all come to pass in their day, but they knew that someday it would. John Adams wrote:

"I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in Providence for the illumination of the ignorant, and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth."

Why I Joined the Oath Keepers.

America is under assault. Most of us have watched this assault for years, and thought that elections were enough to beat back the rising tide of statist authoritarianism. Then Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005. We were wrong!

In response to hysterical (and mostly inaccurate) cries of widespread murder and rape throughout the city, the Governor of Louisiana sent the national guard and local police on a house-to-house search for weapons in some of the poorer areas of New Orleans. When they should have been shooting looters, they decided to go on a search for weapons instead! Law enforcement officers knocked doors down when necessary, and subdued lawful, gun-owning citizens and even disarmed them at gun point! To make a grim scene even worse, they blockaded citizens of N.O. in the city proper by refusing to allow them to walk out of the city via the bridges, and even FORCED many to stay in the Superdome while sewage filled the walkways. The malfeasence of FEMA was legendary as well, and would require far too much space to document in detail. FEMA exacerbated the problem.

It was a hellish, nightmarish scene of third world tyranny and local incompetance--IN AN AMERICAN CITY!!

The government-induced disaster in New Orleans jolted me. I became aware that elections alone couldn't possibly protect our God-given rights as free citizens from those who disregard or even disdain our Constitution...our common rule book. Those National Guard soldiers and policeman who participated in these unconstitutional searches and seizures of weapons, and de facto BLOCKADE of the city, all took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. It's the same oath I took in 1987 when I joined the Navy for a six year hitch:

"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Far too many troops and police failed to KEEP their oath.

You may notice that the first part of the oath is defending the Constitution, and that obeying the orders of the President comes after that? This way, when the President or Governor (or any government official) directly violates the Constitution, those orders are supposed to be ignored or countermanded on the spot. I know that's a lot to ask, and it's one hell of a lot easier to just obey bad orders than to disobey them, but our future as a representative republic of law depends on an informed and patriotic military and law enforcement arm.

Today we are afflicted by an administration and Congress that is so far out of control in it's lust for power that the Constitution isn't even a speed bump to these totalitarians and their devious schemes to "fundamentally transform America." In dozens of different ways our Constitutional, freedom-based way of life is under direct assault from within.

In the final analysis, all tyranny relies on it's enforcement arm; the police, the national guard, and ultimately the military. That's where the Oath Keepers come in. We seek to "reach, teach, and inspire" (thanks Mike Austell) all military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters about their primary oath to the Constitution of the United States. I'll bet you never heard this in school. I sure didn't.

RUSH: Time now, ladies and gentlemen, for The Real Story of Thanksgiving, as written by I -- by me -- in my second book, See, I Told You So. It's page 70 in the hardcover version. "On August 1, 1620, the Mayflower set sail. It carried a total of 102 passengers, including forty Pilgrims led by William Bradford. On the journey, Bradford set up an agreement, a contract, that established just and equal laws for all members of the new community, irrespective of their religious beliefs. Where did the revolutionary ideas expressed in the Mayflower Compact come from? From the Bible. The Pilgrims were a people completely steeped in the lessons of the Old and New Testaments. They looked to the ancient Israelites for their example. And, because of the biblical precedents set forth in Scripture, they never doubted that their experiment would work."

Now, you know the usual story of Thanksgiving: They landed. They had no clue where they were, no idea how to feed themselves. The Indians came out, showed 'em how to pop popcorn, fed 'em turkey, saved 'em basically -- and then white European settlers after that basically wiped out the Indian population. It's a horrible example. Not only is that not true, here is the part that's been omitted from what is still today taught as the traditional Thanksgiving story in many schools. "The original contract the Pilgrims had entered into with their merchant-sponsors in London called for everything they produced to go into a common store,' when they got here, 'and each member of the community was entitled to one common share. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belong to the community as well.

"They were going to distribute it equally. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belonged to the community as well. ... [William] Bradford, who had become the new governor of the colony, recognized that this form of collectivism was as costly and destructive to the Pilgrims as that first harsh winter, which had taken so many lives. He decided to take bold action. Bradford assigned a plot of land to each family to work and manage, thus turning loose the power of the marketplace. ... Long before Karl Marx was even born, the Pilgrims had discovered and experimented with what could only be described as socialism,' and it had failed" miserably because when every put things in the common store, some people didn't have to put things in for there to be, people that didn't produce anything were taking things out, and it caused resentment just as it does today. So Bradford had to change it.

"What Bradford and his community found was that the most creative and industrious people had no incentive to work any harder than anyone else, unless they could utilize the power of personal motivation! But while most of the rest of the world has been experimenting with socialism for well over a hundred years – trying to refine it, perfect it, and re-invent it – the Pilgrims decided early on to scrap it permanently. What Bradford wrote about this social experiment should be in every schoolchild's history lesson. If it were, we might prevent much needless suffering," that happens today and will happen "in the future. 'The experience that we had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years...that by taking away property, and bringing community into a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing – as if they were wiser than God,' Bradford wrote.

'For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children without [being paid] that was thought injustice.' ... The Pilgrims found that people could not be expected to do their best work without incentive. So what did Bradford's community try next? They unharnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the undergirding capitalistic principle of private property. Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work and permitted to market its own crops and products. And what was the result?"

Here's what Bradford wrote, the governor of the Massachusetts colony. "'This had very good success,' wrote Bradford, 'for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.' Bradford doesn't sound like much of a Clintonite, does he?" or an Obamaite, if I can update it. "Is it possible that supply-side economics could have existed before the 1980s? ... Anyway, the pilgrims found "In no time, the Pilgrims found they had more food than they could eat themselves. ... So they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. The profits allowed them to pay off their debts to the merchants in London. And the success and prosperity of the Plymouth settlement attracted more Europeans and began what came to be known as the 'Great Puritan Migration.'

Very few people have heard this story or have had it taught to them -- and the "thanks" was to God for showing them the way. In later parts of the chapter, I quote John Adams and George Washington on their reminisces and their thoughts on the first Thanksgiving and the notion it was thanks to God. It was an entirely different story than is being taught in the schools. It's been muddied down, watered down all these years -- and now it's been hijacked by the multicultural community -- to the point that the story of Thanksgiving is the Pilgrims were a bunch of incompetents and were saved only by the goodness of the Indians, who then were wiped out. And that's what kids are being taught today -- 'cause, of course, you can't mention the Bible in school, and that's fundamental to the real story of Thanksgiving.

Are You Worried About "Quantitative Easing"? YOU SHOULD BE!

Yesterday the Federal Reserve announced that it was planning on injecting ANOTHER $600,000,000,000 (that's 600 billion dollars!, in case you were wondering) into the American financial system by purchasing Treasury bonds. The stated goal is to drive interest rates lower and encourage borrowing. Call it a top-down method of "stimulating" the economy. And you guessed it, they'll PRINT it!

--What Does Quantitative Easing Mean? A government monetary policy occasionally used to increase the money supply by buying government securities or other securities from the market. Quantitative easing increases the money supply by flooding financial institutions with capital in an effort to promote increased lending and liquidity.

--Investopedia explains Quantitative Easing...Central banks tend to use quantitative easing when interest rates have already been lowered to near 0% levels and have failed to produce the desired effect. The major risk of quantitative easing is that although more money is floating around, there is still a fixed amount of goods for sale. This will eventually lead to higher prices or inflation.

YES it will !!! Our problem is NOT high interest rates, they're already near historically low levels. Our financial problems are many and have political origins, like the government-induced home mortgage meltdown, ObamaCare, the looming threat of tax hikes and over-regulation, increased energy taxes via "Cap and Trade" legislation, forced unionization via "Card Check" legislation, and the list goes on. The ability to borrow money isn't nearly as problematic as the menace of abusive governance.

So what's likely to happen when $600,000,000,000 brand spanking new $dollar bills$ are injected into the American economy?

Inflation. And if we're terribly unlucky, hyperinflation. Think Weimar Republic, Germany, circa 1924.

Our economy will be awash with 600 billion more dollars chasing the same goods and services as before this second round of "quantitative easing." The cost of everything you buy is going to increase, maybe even dramatically. The current fight over extending the Bush tax cuts will seem like a silly side show once that $2.65 loaf of bread becomes $9.12, or a pound of hamburger goes fom the current $3.25/lb. to $13.50/lb..

This sort of inflation is the unkindest tax increase of all due to it's size and scope and the dramatic way that it impoverishes us and diminishes our lifestyles.

Are We Still Worthy of Leaders Like This?

Many messages were sent to Washington DC last night, and they all ended with an exclamation point. Those voices sounded a lot like STOP IT!...and...CUT IT OUT, DAMN IT!

On November 2, 2010, America won a reprieve from tyrannical government, but only as long as we stay awake, aware, and active.
When asked by a citizen what form of government the delegates had formed in Independance Hall, Ben Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it." Well, can we?

Leaders of Franklin's ability are precious and few, and ultimately they are nothing more than a reflection of the society that produces them.

Welcome, Senate Conservatives
Remember what the voters back home want—less government and more freedom

Congratulations to all the tea party-backed candidates who overcame a determined, partisan opposition to win their elections. The next campaign begins today. Because you must now overcome determined party insiders if this nation is going to be spared from fiscal disaster.

Many of the people who will be welcoming the new class of Senate conservatives to Washington never wanted you here in the first place. The establishment is much more likely to try to buy off your votes than to buy into your limited-government philosophy. Consider what former GOP senator-turned-lobbyist Trent Lott told the Washington Post earlier this year: "As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them."

Don't let them. Co-option is coercion. Washington operates on a favor-based economy and for every earmark, committee assignment or fancy title that's given, payback is expected in return. The chits come due when the roll call votes begin. This is how big-spending bills that everyone always decries in public always manage to pass with just enough votes.

Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine. But it is an awful way to govern a great nation. When politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as clients and other Americans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in our life becomes all-consuming. Some Americans become adverse parties of our very government. We are not all litigants in some vast social class-action suit. We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.

Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives. America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked. When the most important decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big.

When House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.

We cannot expect the Lawyers Party to provide real change, real reform or real hope in America. Most Americans know that a republic in which every major government action must be blessed by nine unelected judges is not what Washington intended in 1789. The United States has 5% of the world's population and 66% of the world's lawyers!! Tort (Legal) reform legislation has been introduced in congress several times in the last several years to limit punitive damages in ridiculous lawsuits such as spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing the establishment that sold it to you and also to limit punitive damages in huge medical malpractice lawsuits. This legislation has continually been blocked from even being voted on by the Democrat Party. When you see that 97% of the political contributions from the American Trial Lawyers Association goes to the Democratic Party, then you realize who is responsible for our medical and product costs being so high!

President Obama's Class Warfare

The White House--and our beloved community organizer--are working overtime to raise taxes on the wealthy, while preserving the current tax rates for everyone else. CLASS WARFARE is in full bloom once again!!

There is a plague of economic populism emanating from the political left these days. More than ever we are seeing class warfare used as a weapon to pit the "haves" against the "have-nots", the rich vs. the poor and the middle class. Democrats are the main practitioners of this ugliness, but Republicans aren't totally immune to it's allure. Florida Governor Charlie Crist has "taken on big insurers" repeatedly as part of his platform because he's "The People's Governor."

This strategy is nothing more than the political equivalent of the Divide and Conquer strategy for waging war, which has been variously attributed to Julius Caesar and Sun Tzu. By pitting the majority middle class and poor (collectively referred to as "working people") against the so-called wealthy, the political left seeks to cause a seething resentment against those same wealthy people. This resentment is then used to increase taxes and enact legislation that "levels the playing field."

A typical class warfare practitioner wrote this at the jax.com opinion board not to long ago:

"The taxpayer gets very little return on investment for money spent on the wealthy. While a small amount might accidently trickle back into the local economy, the majority goes into wall-street and banking games."

Note how he refers to a tax cut as "money spent on the wealthy"? That assumes that the money NOT seized by the government is only lent to the person who actually earned it. In other words, a tax cut equals government spending. This turns property rights as we know them on their head. The ongoing attempt is to delegitimize the wealthy person's claim to their own money.

A high percentage of my customers are very wealthy people. Oftentimes my company isn't the only one doing work at a customer's home. There are painters, crews who pave driveways and decks with paving stones, pool cleaners, insurance salesman, irrigation guys, personal trainers, tanning bed vendors, carpenters, roofers, and the list gets very long.

The companies and the crews who are employed at these wealthy homes then spend their money at stores of all sorts, pay their bills and maybe even manage to save for their children's education. In turn their customers also do well. In case you're wondering, this is true economic activity. This is the "return on investment" the class warrior attempted to diminish.

What happens when the class warrior is successful in his mantra, "the rich aren't paying their fair share" or "greedy corporations are pilfering the Treasury"?

We raise taxes on the wealthy. Social justice, right? Not so fast! The chances are better than even that the class warrior hasn't thought through the unintended consequences of his divisive rhetoric and poisonous name calling.

The wealthy family or individual will pay more in income taxes and they receive a clear message from the rest of America; "We want your money, and we'll use the government as an instrument of plunder to make it happen."

If that "rich" guy is a small businessman, as I suspect most of them are, they'll look to trim the fat from their budget asap. They will wonder: Who are my most expendable workers? Which ones can I spare without hurting profitability? Those workers will get the axe because they were probably a detriment anyways. What's the result?

Unemployment goes up, which is usually the first unintended consequence of successful class warfare and it's resultant tax increases.

If that "rich" guy is a former business owner who is semi-retired and living off investments and/or part time income, he may prioritize expenses in different ways. He may offload a car or two (in addition to the guy who details his cars), he may decide that his total relandscaping project can wait until his investments tick up again to offset his bigger tax bill. He may only want his windows cleaned every 18 months instead of every 9 months. He may decide against that new paint job or decide that the new inground pool can wait, or ALL OF THE ABOVE!

The simple and unavoidable truth is that when you seize the wealth of the rich, they take a hit for sure. Their annual income may go from 1.3 million dollars to 1.1 million, or from 980 thousand dollars to 860 thousand. So what says the class warrior defiantly, "He still has 860 THOUSAND dollars!"

And tens of thousands--if not HUNDREDS of thousands--of "working class" people are left holding their bills and wondering, "where did my job go?"

Thank your local class warrior! That's hope and change he can believe in.

Is the government making plans to confiscate your retirement money? The Obama administration is certainly exploring the idea.

This question no longer seems far-fetched when the group-thinkers in Washington unabashedly promote a doctrine of wealth redistribution and central planning. These Keynesian socialists know they will need vast new sources of revenues to fund their relentless spending binges to "transform" this nation. A logical next step would be to legitimize the confiscation of private retirement assets -- an idea that was contemplated in the recent past by the Clinton administration.

According to the Investment Company Institute, there was $7.835 trillion in IRA, 401K, 457, and 403b accounts in 2009. That is certainly too large a sum to be ignored by the big spending social engineers in Washington. Bureaucrats and politicians have been hard at work formulating a social justice excuse to legislate an historic seizure of private assets. This would not be the first time the statists extorted wealth from U.S. citizens on a massive scale.

The public shakedown always employs a two-step tactic to repeatedly dupe the malleable electorate. First, the statists fabricate and incessantly excoriate a contrived crisis of social injustice that is victimizing helpless and unknowing Americans. Next, they "craft" -- a term Pelosi uses again and again -- insidious legislation disguised as a necessary and compassionate solution that makes participation and universal funding compulsory by force of the law.

It is a simple and effective strategy that continues to trip up even the staunchest conservatives, who ultimately succumb to the throng of propagandized constituents demanding protection from the newly revealed threat.

Expect to see terms such as "retirement income protection" thrown around. It is highly likely that such a program would be implemented in steps to help overcome public opposition. The US government plan is to eventually take ownership of all assets in IRAs and 401K accounts and replace them with US government "Treasury Retirement Bonds." In the October 2008 hearings, it was proposed that these bonds pay a 3% interest rate. Another major change is that, upon retirement, the individual's retirement account would be converted into an annuity. Once the individual is deceased, the individual's heirs would not inherit anything.

"In a 5-4 decision Monday, the Supreme Court declared for the first time that the Second Amendment right to bear arms extends to states and local governments. The ruling opens the door to challenges to gun control laws and ordinances across the country."

It's literally stunning that it was a 5-4 decision rather than a 9-0 decision. Make no mistake, this was a vote on the 2nd Amendment, and 4 of the Supreme Court Justices chose to vote their PREFERENCE in favor of gun control, rather than vote according to the clear wording of the 2nd Amendment. To wit:

"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

What part of that wording DON'T the 4 leftist Supremes understand? You see, it truly doesn't (or shouldn't) matter whether Justice Stevens or Ginsberg like or even dislike the 2nd Amendment at all. It shouldn't matter one bit if they believe in full-scale gun confiscation.
Their job is to apply the Constitution to these matters, NOT WRITE NEW LAW!!!!

That's what the legislature is for. Activist judges are clear and present danger to our constitution and our law-based society. In case you're wondering, this sort of behavior is at the very heart of conservative's objections to left-wing jurists.

It's time to REPEAL the 17th amendment!

Senators should be selected by their respective state legislatures. That was the intent of the Founders in Article 1, Section 3, Clause 1 :

"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."

This insured that each state would have actual and adequate representation in the Senate. Representatives take care of the interests of their districts, while the STATES have less official representation than foreign countries who have lobbyists bending the ears of Senators at all hours. Making these Senators directly accountable to the State legislatures is an idea whose time has come...again!

The 17th Amendment will have to be repealed. That's a heavy lift, and sadly would probably be fought along partisan lines. Radical special interest groups with deeeeep pockets, like MoveOn.org, George Soros, A.C.O.R.N. and others seem to have more pull with some our Senators than we voters do. During the health care takeover debates I called the office of my Senator, Bill Nelson, to register my disapproval of ObamaCare. A very nice and courteous young man took my call. I asked him how the callers were reacting on this subject. He told me that I was one of his "younger" callers, and that most of the people who called him felt the same way I did. They were AGAINST "health care reform." His words.

Now I ask you, who had more representation when Senator Nelson voted for this bill? The deep-pocketed left-wing NUT ROOTS, or the retirees in the state of Florida who will have their Medicare SLASHED by over $500 Billion to pay for this legislation?

Many of those who oppose the Federal Reserve system or any other kind of national bank do so in gross ignorance of history. They assume that it is the system which has led to economic problems and that going back to an older gold-based system would stabilize the economy. The problem is that the historical record does not bear this out.

The reason why we switched to a managed paper currency in the first place was that specie based money was unstable. Throughout the period when we used a gold based system we had repeated booms and busts and crashes and bubbles caused by market manipulation, the real estate market, credit shortages, natural disasters and other factors. Every crash from the south sea bubble to the great depression came during a time of specie-backed, real-value currency. Gold did nothing to make the economy stable because it was only one factor and by not floating relative to the market it made things less stable, not more.

The most stable basis for a currency is to have it indexed not to one commodity, but to many, as represented by a measure like the GDP so that the rise of one commodity is balanced out by the decline in others. That's exactly what the Federal Reserve was originally intended to use as its basis for the currency. The value of money was supposed to be tied directly to the GDP so that the money supply would grow in proportion to legitimate demand and productivity. That's a far more stable system than using any single commodity like gold as the basis for your money.

The problem is not the concept of the federal reserve, it is the misuse of the power of the federal reserve and the abandonment of the principle of tying the money supply to GDP which began in the 1970s. So long as the money supply expanded and contracted with the economy the system worked. When the bankers started inflating the money supply to create artificial booms they also created busts to go along with them.

But in a nutshell it's the abuse of the system, not the system itself which is the problem.

Bailouts, and the Worldwide Collapse of Nanny State Socialism.

Connie Hair at Human Events has written an eye-opening article about the US taxpayer's partial bailout of Greece AND the European Union via the International Monetary Fund. The Obama Administration is desperately trying to keep the Euro-socialist economies from failing, while at the same time avoiding the only lesson that's worth learning here:

Socialism doesn't work! As Margaret Thatcher said, "sooner or later you run out of other people's money."

Socialism violates the most basic principles of the property rights which underlie our freedoms. Whether it's the national socialist/fascist model, international socialist/communist model, or the Euro-socialist nanny state model with it's runaway public sector unionism, the result is always the same: Socialism fails every time it's tried. It collapses of it's own immorality because the state functions as a klepocratic, redistributionist cancer--afflicting the ambitious and hard-working with crippling taxes in order to buy the votes of the rest.

There are three legitimate balance sheets left in the world:
--The German household which is backing German government and EU deficit spending,
--The Chinese household which is in the midst of a GIGANTIC housing bubble,
--And the American household, already overburdened with mortgage and credit debt.

They're backing all of the irresponsible borrowing and spending of their respective governments. In other words, the emperor has no clothes! We are in the midst of the largest confidence scheme in the history of the world. Washington DC is printing money and monetizing debt as never before and the money backing it (the American household) JUST ISN'T THERE! Check out national debt/citizen, personal debt/citizen and then unfunded liability per citizen. All together its $447K per citizen. Subtract $234K assets per citizen and you get $213K total liability per citizen (a hell of a lot higher per taxpayer!). Of course this does not include the billions in IMF pledges we just made to the EU. The same holds true for the EU and to a lesser extent China and Japan.

The majority of the population capable of basic comprehension understands that we are creating unsustainable debt, and that there will be hell to pay as the result. Most people also understand that getting OUT of personal debt is the best strategy for surviving the coming crash. And it's not a question of IF that crash will happen, it's only a matter of WHEN it happens.

What works for individual households also holds true for nations. Debt creation and deficit spending must be reduced.

In her article Connie Hair quotes Mike Pence (R-IN) as saying, “America is not looking to the European Union to bail out New Jersey or California,” he said. “The European Union should not be looking to the taxpayers of the United States of America to provide the loan guarantees to bail out Greece or Portugal or Spain or any other country.”

Amen brother Mike! Our own socialists have given us enough debt to deal with here at home. Flushing $54 billion dollars more into the Euro-toilet is adding insult to the injury already suffered by the American taxpayer. Our only chance for surviving the coming crash is to reduce government spending dramatically across the board, and grow our economy by cutting taxes. The FairTax seems to be the best system of federal taxation to save our economy.

The Republicans are currently working on legislation to block the planned European bailouts. It's a good start!

Bob Bennett's Defeat in Utah and the Conservative Counter-Insurgency.

The news media is telling us that Utah Senator Bob Bennett was defeated by the Tea Party, a "radicalized conservative base", and an anti-incumbency fervor that is now sweeping the nation. Fox News went so far as to claim that Senator Bennett is a "staunch, principled conservative" whose defeat in the Utah primary promises doom for Republicans in the general election. As usual the media got it wrong.

Bob Bennett voted for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), believing the Democrat's promises that the loan repayments from banks and mortgage companies would be used to pay down the debt.

My teenage daughter knows better!

The Obama Administration, their unaccountable gang of "czars", and the Democrats have used the TARP funds to wage war against American free markets and exert a quasi-fascistic control over our financial system. They have used these funds to undermine our institutions and they now use repayment as an excuse to spend us into even deeper debt.

That's what Democrats do!

Admittedly, many Republicans voted for the TARP program, many out of fear alone. Why didn't Bob Bennett know better? He also voted for a bi-partisan health care reform bill that was only marginally better than ObamaCare. It was STILL a stinker!

--A principled conservative would have known better and fought for free market solutions only!
--A principled conservative would have understood that the true purpose of ObamaCare was the outright destruction of the free market health insurance industry, forcing Americans to run to government for their health care needs.
--A principled conservative would have understood that the end game of ObamaCare was to control people's votes by controlling their access to health care. And last but not least...

--A principled conservative would have made this case loud and clear to his constituents.

On some issues, Bob Bennett is a conservative who understands the Constitution. On a few of the most important issues he has failed to provide desperately needed conservative leadership. He chose to cooperate with tyranny (or at least turn a blind eye to it) and meet it halfway. Thankfully he's been shown the door.

The Democrat party has been taken over by left-wing radicals. Our nation is under sustained attack from those radicals, and that assault MUST be met head on by principled conservatives who hold to the Constitutional principles of limited government.

Today I intended to delve into the question of "why" the left and the media was hyperventilating over the Gulf oil spill. That's been delayed for a day or two. The adjectives used to describe the spill were over the top, and in some cases just plain dishonest. To give context--and more importantly a sense of proportion--to the story, I made the simple case that the daily flow (5000 barrels or 200K gallons) was equal to 1/3 of an Olympic competition swimming pool. A poster on the US News and World Report website has done me one better, and shed some light into the hysteria surrounding the oil spill. Enjoy.--

How About A Little Perspective? A Sticky Mess - Not A Cataclysmic Disaster

4. Over the past 20,000 years sea levels have risen more than 300 feet (YOU THINK ALGORE KNOWS THAT?) and the erosion caused by rising levels has increased “natural seepage.”

5. University of Ca. Santa Barbara researchers (Hardly a neo-con group) find that off shore drilling reduces natural seepage of crude oil by more than 50%.

6. 20-30 tons of oil leak from southern California under fissures every day! Remember, this number would double if we eliminate off shore drilling.

7. Truk Lagoon was the site of the most intense fuel/oil spill on record. 77 Japanese ships were sunk by American dive and torpedo bombers, dropping thousands of tons of high explosives into the enclosed lagoon, in a single day. The lagoon did not become a "Super Fund" site, but rather a thriving dive resort with a wonderful and diverse underwater ecosystem. Oil still leaks from the sunken vessels 66 years later.

Just yesterday our fearless leader, Barack Obama, finally woke up and noticed that that we have an ongoing oil spill happening in the Gulf. We can only venture a guess what arguments David Axelrod used to divert Obama's attention from his full frontal assault on our capitalist economic system, but some sort of political fallout from spilt oil is the ONLY thing that comes to mind.

Yesterday (April 30th) the airwaves were LITTERED with such breathless words and phrases as "catastrophic, environmental disaster, worst oil spill ever, a catastrophe for 5 states" and worse. All of the media outlets are using the exact same talking points and phrases to describe the 200,000 gallon per day spill.

Am I the only one who's deeply distressed by the sad state of affairs which has befallen America journalism? There was a time when at least a handful of Columbia Journalism School graduates in the "mainstream media" took enough pride in their work to take out a calculator and do their job properly by adding context to the hyperbole. Heck, that's a trick I learned in my third week of window cleaning school. (chuckle)

My point here is not to diminish the environmental damage done by this big spill, but to add FACTS and CONTEXT to the hype, both of which are sorely lacking in the media spin.

Fact: There are 7.5 gallons in a cubic foot.
Fact: An average Olympic competition swimming pool is 158ft. long x 60 ft. wide x 8.5 ft. deep.
Fact: That pool has 80,580 cubic ft. of water.
Fact: When you multiply 80,580 cubic ft. x 7.5 gallons you get 604,350 gallons in the pool.
Fact: Divide 604,350 by 200,000 (the amount spilled per day) and you get 3.02.
Fact: The amount spilled per day by the oil well is 1/3rd of an Olympic swimming pool.

You read that right...

Again, I'm not attempting to minimize the size or scope of the spill, I'm only adding a sense of true scale to the media hyperbole. A new report, released by Republicans on the Ways and Means Committee, detailed information that if the new health care plan becomes law it will greatly increase the work of the Internal Revenue Service. They also say that it will add to the IRS’s heavy hand compared to what it is now.

More Than 16,000 New IRS Workers Will Be Needed:

The IRS says that the new health care plan will mean additional taxes and penalties. This will require 16,000 new IRS employees in the department. They will include workers to enforce the regulations and collect fees as well as additional agents and auditors. The IRS will be given the authority, according to the Republicans report, to fine a person up to $2500, or two per cent of their income, whichever is great, if the person cannot prove they have purchased a minimum essential health care coverage.

According to the newly released document, prepared by the Republicans, they report the IRS can confiscate a tax refund. Additionally, they suggest that the number of audits conducted each year will increase. During this decade they say the IRS will need additional funding of $10 billion just to administer the new health care program. Further, they contend the IRS might need to hire up to 16,500 additional employees in order to collect, what they anticipate will be, billions of dollars in new taxes from Americans.---

It sounds crazy, doesn't it? The very thought that the government may be quietly laying the groundwork to seize your retirement assets is enough to make you shudder and think, "no way! This can't be happening. Not in America. My IRA and 401k are safe."

REMEMBER that we talking about the Obama Administration and the IRS.
This is the same administration who:

--used the recent economic chaos to seize control of the American mortgage market,
--used loans to GM and Chrysler to take control of those companies. Initially they secured those loans with preferred stocks, which they quickly converted to Common Stocks so they could gain a controlling vote.
--has recently taken over the student loan business
--has appointed radical leftist "Czars" to oversee and transform ever-larger portions of our economy against the will of the people and their representatives in Congress
--has presided over a quadrupling of the budget deficit in the course of 1 year

In short, they haven't "wasted a good crisis" since taking office.

The list of Obama Administration trespasses against our freedom-based way of life is long indeed. Given their track record, is there any reason to think that they wouldn't try to get their hands on 3 TRILLION dollar$ of our retirement funds? Do you think they would be opposed to this heist on principle? REALLY?!

Some Thoughts on Class Warfare.

There is a plague of economic populism emanating from the political left these days. More than ever we are seeing class warfare used as a weapon to pit the "Haves" against the "Have-Nots", the "rich" vs. the "poor" and the middle class. Democrats are the main practitioners of this ugly art, but Republicans aren't totally immune to it's allure. Florida Governor Charlie Crist has "taken on big insurers" as part of his platform because he's "The People's Governor."

This strategy is nothing more than the political equivalent of the Divide and Conquer strategy for waging war, which has been variously attributed to Julius Caesar and Sun Tzu. By pitting the majority middle class and poor (collectively referred to as "working people") against the so-called "wealthy", the political left seeks to cause a seething resentment against those same wealthy people. This resentment is then used to increase taxes and enact legislation that "levels the playing field."

A typical class warfare practitioner wrote this at the jax.com opinion board yesterday:

"The taxpayer gets very little return on investment for money spent on the wealthy. While a small amount might accidently trickle back into the local economy, the majority goes into wall-street and banking games."

Note how he refers to a tax cut as "money spent on the wealthy"? That assumes that the money NOT seized by the government is only lent to the person who actually earned it. In other words, a tax cut equals government spending. This turns property rights as we know it on it's head. The ongoing attempt is to delegitimize the wealthy person's claim to their own money.

A high percentage of my customers are very wealthy people. Oftentimes my company isn't the only one doing work at a customer's home. There are painters, crews who pave driveways and decks with paving stones, pool cleaners, insurance salesman, irrigation guys, personal trainers, tanning bed vendors, carpenters, roofers, and the list gets very long.

The companies and the crews who are employed at these wealthy homes then spend their money at stores of all sorts, pay their bills and maybe even manage to save for their children's education. In turn their customers also do well. In case you're wondering, this is true economic activity. This is the "return on investment" the class warrior attempted to diminish.

What happens when the class warrior is successful in his mantra, "the rich aren't paying their fair share" or "greedy corporations are pilfering the Treasury"?

We get a tax hike on the wealthy. Social justice, right? Not so fast! The chances are better than even that the class warrior hasn't thought through the unintended consequences of his divisive rhetoric and poisonous name calling.

The wealthy family or individual will pay more in income taxes and they receive a clear message from the rest of America; "We want your money, and we'll use the government as an instrument of plunder to make it happen."

If that "rich" guy is a small businessman, as I suspect most of them are, they'll look to trim the fat from their budget asap. They will wonder: Who are my most expendable workers? Which ones can I spare without hurting profitability? Those workers will get the axe because they were probably a detriment anyways. What's the result?

Unemployment goes up, which is usually the first unintended consequence of successful class warfare and it's resultant tax increases.

If that "rich" guy is a former business owner who is semi-retired and living off investments and/or part time income, he may prioritize expenses in different ways. He may offload a car or two (in addition to the guy who details his cars), he may decide that his total relandscaping project can wait until his investments tick up again to offset his bigger tax bill. He may only want his windows cleaned every 18 months instead of every 9 months. He may decide against that new paint job or decide that the new inground pool can wait, or ALL OF THE ABOVE!

The simple and unavoidable truth is that when you seize the wealth of the rich, they take a hit for sure. Their annual income may go from 1.3 million dollars to 1.1 million, or from 980 thousand dollars to 860 thousand. So what says the class warrior defiantly, "He still has 860 THOUSAND dollars!"

And tens of thousands--if not HUNDREDS of thousands--of "working class" people are left holding their bills and wondering, "where did my job go?"

Thank your local class warrior! That's hope and change he can believe in.

Cloward-Piven, A Strategy For Economic DESTRUCTION!

Have you recently asked yourself, "just what the HELL are these people in Washington DC doing?!" They spend TRILLIONS of dollars on "stimulus" bills and TARP plans that are really nothing more than cleverly conceived and disguised political slush funds for the re-election of Democrat incumbents. If they weren't political slush funds they would have spent that money up front rather than back-loading the majority of the funds to be spent in election year 2010. They have recently proposed ANOTHER "stimulus" bill ("Son of Stimulus"), because of course the first one hasn't worked as promised.

If this fiscal insanity weren't enough, the Democrats and Obama want to spend a trillion dollars or more on "health care reform" and another trillion or more on a ruinous Cap and Trade bill which is ostensibly intended to mitigate the supposed ill effects of Global Warming--aka Psuedoscience on steroids. These two programs will soon grow even more out of control. Adding gasoline to the fire, new spending for dozens of brand new welfare programs is buried in every appropriations bill. Just yesterday President Obama unveiled his record $3.8 TRILLION budget for the new year.

All of this fiscal insanity leads us back to the original head-scratcher, "just what the HELL are these people in Washington DC doing?!"

There are those who say that the Democrat "Progressives" are spending like lunatics to buy votes, and haven't even considered the consequences. That opinion assumes far too much stupidity from where I sit. Others say that this is an orchestrated attempt to crash the financial system and remake America as a far poorer socialist state. To date, it's gone by the name of "Hope and Change we can believe in." In truth this is a strategy, and it already has a name.

Welcome to the Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis. In a nutshell, the aim of Cloward-Piven is to bring America to her knees and force political change by overwhelming us with debt and a colossal welfare state. This is malevolent and 100% purposeful, and it must be STOPPED if we are to survive as a free people.

Let's look at the big picture. We have out-of-control spending at a time when tax receipts are at a low point due to an economy in recession. The result of these huge new taxes will be more economic stagnation and debt.

This is beyond mere stupidity, it's PURPOSEFUL DESTRUCTION!

Big Labor got some big love from President Obama and congressional Democrats yesterday after they agreed to exempt union workers from the whopping “Cadillac tax” on high-cost health-care plans until 2018.

The sweetheart deal, hammered out behind closed doors, will save union employees at least $60 billion over the years involved, while others won't be as lucky -- they'll have to cough up almost $90 billion.

The 40 percent excise tax on what have come to be called "Cadillac" health-care plans would exempt collective-bargaining contracts covering government employees and other union members until Jan. 1, 2018

In another major concession to labor, the value of dental and vision plans would be exempt from the tax even after the deal expires in eight years, negotiators said.

A Tribute To My Buddy Mike, Rest in Peace Brother

Mike was one of my best friends from FrontPage magazine. As much as any person who posts in the blogosphere can shape opinion, Mike did shape opinion. He was an intellectual GIANT who wrote in terms the rest of us could comprehend. I'm not ashamed to say, Mike dumbed it down for us mere mortals and did it seemingly without an ego. He was the greatest and most artriculate champion for human freedom that I've ever encountered on any message board, and his loss leaves a terrible vacuum. G-d bless and keep you pal.

Around three years ago Mike was involved in one of his vaunted "discussions" at FrontPage with an atheist. I enjoyed it so much that I asked his permission to copy the discussion and make a blog post. From 2007:

Last night one of the regular posters at FrontPage Magazine.com, "DumbLikeAFox", let loose with an atheist screed that was terribly hostile and misinformed, but one I'm rather familiar with. Atheist hostility towards people of faith is sometimes so palpable that one is left with the impression that atheists view themselves in "competition" with the faithful. There are many thoughtful exceptions to this rule, but this hostility seems to be the rule.

As an aside, when self-professed atheists control the state we invariably end up with Communism or Fascism. Atheist governments feel no compunction to respect any "G-d given" rights of the people. They seek to perfect the imperfectable humans in their midst. We round humans just REFUSE to fit into square holes! That's when the bloodletting commences. To be an atheist physicist you have to believe that billions upon billions of galaxies composed of billions of stars spreading across an area so vast that it takes around 15 billion years for light traveling 6.2 trillion miles per year to reach from one side to the other.

Yet all this impossible to imagine tremendous amount of mass was compressed into an area 1 x 10 to the -48 centimeter. My loving and dear wife, on the other hand, has purchased a ticket every week for the past 27 years.

Now I ask you, another person with a logical mind and an understanding of numbers, to do two things....

1) I want you to calculate in rough terms the odds of the universe occurring the way it did with all its myriad variables randomly falling into place in just the precise way it did so that matter itself is possible and its subsequent evolution into a universe no doubt full of life conscious enough to ask the question "Where did I come from? Why I am I here?".

2) When, in much frustration, you've calculated that the odds of you winning the lottery are nearly infinitely greater than the universe unfolding in the precise way it did, then I want you to go drop to your knees and pray to the Great Void and thank it for THAT happy random coincidence.

I've come to much the same conclusion, and had that conclusion reinforced while helping my daughter with her Physical Science and Algebra homework. The world we live in has RULES! It seems as though we live in an ordered universe, at least as we perceive it. The atheist with his telescope or microscope or chalkboard will always miss the hand of the Creator in the natural world that he observes and uncovers, while the believer will appreciate His work. You don't have to believe in the creation myth or be a Biblical literalist to understand the brilliance of the Creator.

To be an atheist you are a believer in coincidences--THOUSANDS as a matter of fact!

People who think of Evolution as a refutation of G-d's very existence are almost childlike in the simplicity of their thought processes. For example they never stop to ask, "Is it possible that He created evolution as a means for animals to adapt and survive when the rest of nature throws us a wicked curveball?"

The Republican Resurgence: A Game Plan

I wrote this in the aftermath of the bloodbath that was the general election of 2008. People are finally waking up, and we have the opportunity to inspire them with the TRUTH! The masses will never be inspired by the compromisers and the wishy washy RINOS in our party. DEFEND freedom and our freedom-based way of life and we will once again renew this country. Let us once again be the party of Reagan!

The Republican Party would be well-advised to heed the lessons of Bush v. Clinton in 1992, Dole v. Clinton in 1996, and now McCain v. Obama in 2008. When the electorate is faced with the choice between a liberal or moderate Democrat and a “moderate” Republican, they seem to prefer the real thing! They’ll pull the lever for the Democrat every time. The "independants" broke for Obama in a HUGE way on election night. They tend not to be G-d’s smartest creatures and will usually look for the candidate handing out the most goodies or the smoothest sounding of the two. Advantage Democrats and Barack Obama. The Republican Party threw it’s full weight behind John McCain late in the primaries, and did they EVER make a mistake!

I was never a fan of John McCain, but I gave him 14 hours or so of my time waving signs and doing other volunteer work because I understood the terrible danger of an untested socialist rookie like Barack Obama. Nine out of ten of the other volunteers I ran into told me something like this: “You know, I can’t stand John McCain, but…” All I could do was sigh, I understood that sentiment completely.

John McCain spent the first five and a half years working hard to infuriate conservatives from his position as head of the liberal Republicans (RINOS) in the Senate. He undermined the President’s judicial nominees by requiring approval from his hand picked bi-partisan group, attacked Bush’s tax cuts using left-wing populist rhetoric, fought against border security (even calling some of us “racist” for wanting to build a fence on the Mexican border), gutted the 1st Amendment with the McCain-Feingold bill, was never a friend of the 2nd Amendment until two years ago, fought to close down Guantanamo Bay while decrying the treatment of the terrorists there at the hands of our soldiers, and was a big proponent of the “Cap and Trade” system which was intended to limit global warming gases by over-taxing utilities and consumers. Drinking the global warming kool-aid is a PERFECT way to alienate smart conservative voters. John McCain would have been FAR more at home in the Democrat Party. He’s a liberal.

During the debates Barack Obama served up some huge lies, along with some hanging curveballs. While I found myself shouting out the obvious responses to Obama’s nonsense and drivel, McCain remained silent or even apologetically demured and changed the subject. A friend told me, “Morgan you’re expecting him to think the same way you do, as a Conservative.” The profundity of that statement struck me like a fist to the solar plexes. We had an imposter standing in there, pretending to be FOR tax cuts, FOR smaller government, FOR going all out to win the war on terror (remember Gitmo?), FOR conservative judicial nominees, etc.. It doesn’t surpise me at all that the answers didn’t come to him instantly, it wasn’t in his heart.

For conservatives there is a silver lining to this election night horror story. The Republicans In Name Only (RINOS) caused this electoral disaster and they will now take a back seat! Conservatism won last night everywhere it was tried on every ballot. CA and FL both had initiatives banning gay marriage that passed and MOST states had tax cutting initiatives on the ballot--which all passed--even in Massachusetts! Obama even lied like hell to people saying he was “going to cut your taxes, for 95% of the people.” He tacked towards the center on nearly every issue. Conservatism didn’t lose, but many faux Republicans certainly did pay the price for betraying conservative principles. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Republican Party to purge itself of liberalism and losing elections.

We MUST retake this party and GET RID of “compassionate conservatism” and other idiotic ideas! Conservatism is, by definition, COMPASSIONATE! We view it as compassionate when people no longer need a handout. We view it as compassionate when a formerly dependent person has the pride that goes with being a productive, tax paying member of society. We view it as compassionate and moral to give a tax cut to anyone who actually pays federal income taxes. We understand that the primary role of the Federal government is national defense, NOT income redistribution! We understand that the engine of American prosperity is the entrepreneur and the businessman, NOT the bureaucrat and his accompanying red tape.

Republicans, we have an opportunity to retake this party and return to our Reagan/Goldwater ideological roots. This is a party built on the brilliance of the Founders. We truly stand on the backs of giants: Men like George Washington, Edmund Burke, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek, and women like Margaret Thatcher and Jean Kirkpatrick. The ideological foundation for victory is rather simple and brilliantly laid out. Will we follow this path to victory?

Or will we live through repeats of election night 2008?

Class Warfare and the Plague of Economic Ignorance

An anonymous letter writer opined in the Florida Times Union, Rants and Raves section on 1-7-2010:

According to the T-U we have on the City Council an arch conservative who has attended a local church all his life and is very proud of both. He votes no on every piece of social spending legislation to help those he represents. Apparently he agrees with the economist Milton Friedman. Greed is good. Profit should be the only concern of business. No regulation as this interferes with profit. Government should provide no services and everything should be privatized, including the police and military. ... I hope he sleeps well.

This is so typical of the leftist worldview that I took the time to respond with remarks of my own, placed after each line of this nutty screed.

"Greed" is a word used by leftists and the economically ignorant (but I repeat myself) to demonize those who have money that they'd like to seize. The person who worked hard to earn that money is said to be "greedy" when he resists the state sponsored theft of those funds. Interestingly enough, elected Cleptocrats (think Barney Frank & Chris Dodd) are never said to be "greedy" for the hundreds and hundreds of taxes they impose in order to redistribute that money to those who didn't earn it.

No regulation as this interferes with profit. NOBODY is arguing against minimal regulations that allow us to live peacefully with each other. Good strawman argument though. Having few laws which are strictly enforced is the best policy. The stifling spiderweb of regulations that we now endure is a form of tyranny.

Government should provide no services and everything should be privatized, including the police and military. ... I hope he sleeps well. Ease off strawman arguments already! The military and police are legitimate functions of government. Governments duties are few, and enumerated in our Constitution.

This is a coordinated attack from the Democrats. First we had the half-a-happy meal, Jew-hating idiot Jimmy Carter calling Republicans "racists" for opposing ObamaCare. Then Monica's boyfriend (Wilhelm the Zipper Clinton) took time off from his Harlem casting couch to label us as "racists" for opposing the plans of the first "African-American President." Actually I think his words were something like "You cain't deny (deenaah), that's there's a racial component..." Whatever! Get back to the Apollo dancers you damn fool. Last but not least, Walter Mondale came out just a few days ago and said the same thing.

Obama tried to give himself some distance from this tactic of calling opponents "RACIST" by saying that he was 'black before the election', but as usual, he's full of it. When three failed party hacks who command as much press attention as Carter, Clintoon, and Mondale all make the same idiotic charge in short order. we have a TACTIC! Do you think a tactic of this import came from anywhere other than the Obama war room? The least they did was approve of it. I think the Obama team is behind this tactic of calling opponents "racist."

The Democrats and the political left have always played the race card because it shames guilty whites (Asians too) into silence by making them aware of past racial sins...which they didn't commit! White guilt played a HUGE role in getting an unqualified first term Senator/A.C.O.R.N. activist elected to the world's most important job--President of the United States.

With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people’s money. These deficits are simply not sustainable. They are either going to result in unprecedented new taxes and inflation, or they will bankrupt us.

While we clearly need health-care reform, the last thing our country needs is a massive new health-care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health-care system. Instead, we should be trying to achieve reforms by moving in the opposite direction—toward less government control and more individual empowerment. Here are eight reforms that would greatly lower the cost of health care for everyone:

• Remove the legal obstacles that slow the creation of high-deductible health insurance plans and health savings accounts (HSAs). The combination of high-deductible health insurance and HSAs is one solution that could solve many of our health-care problems. For example, Whole Foods Market pays 100% of the premiums for all our team members who work 30 hours or more per week (about 89% of all team members) for our high-deductible health-insurance plan. We also provide up to $1,800 per year in additional health-care dollars through deposits into employees’ Personal Wellness Accounts to spend as they choose on their own health and wellness.

Money not spent in one year rolls over to the next and grows over time. Our team members therefore spend their own health-care dollars until the annual deductible is covered (about $2,500) and the insurance plan kicks in. This creates incentives to spend the first $2,500 more carefully. Our plan’s costs are much lower than typical health insurance, while providing a very high degree of worker satisfaction.

• Equalize the tax laws so that that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits. Now employer health insurance benefits are fully tax deductible, but individual health insurance is not. This is unfair.

• Repeal all state laws which prevent insurance companies from competing across state lines. We should all have the legal right to purchase health insurance from any insurance company in any state and we should be able use that insurance wherever we live. Health insurance should be portable.

• Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover. These mandates have increased the cost of health insurance by billions of dollars. What is insured and what is not insured should be determined by individual customer preferences and not through special-interest lobbying.

• Enact tort reform to end the ruinous lawsuits that force doctors to pay insurance costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. These costs are passed back to us through much higher prices for health care.

• Make costs transparent so that consumers understand what health-care treatments cost. How many people know the total cost of their last doctor’s visit and how that total breaks down? What other goods or services do we buy without knowing how much they will cost us?

• Enact Medicare reform. We need to face up to the actuarial fact that Medicare is heading towards bankruptcy and enact reforms that create greater patient empowerment, choice and responsibility.

• Finally, revise tax forms to make it easier for individuals to make a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help the millions of people who have no insurance and aren’t covered by Medicare, Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Many promoters of health-care reform believe that people have an intrinsic ethical right to health care—to equal access to doctors, medicines and hospitals. While all of us empathize with those who are sick, how can we say that all people have more of an intrinsic right to health care than they have to food or shelter?...(click on link to finish reading)

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. (Amen brother Stein!!) I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events; terrorists attacks, school shootings, and the like, I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

It's funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

The last time I visited our nation's capitol, I didn't feel like a besieged minority. George Herbert Walker Bush--American hero--was the new President and the great Ronald Reagan's governing apparatus was still in place. Yes, government was already far too large and intrusive, but Americans knew they had an administration with good intentions where their freedoms were concerned.

Lord help us, how times have changed. We are under siege!

Yesterday Nanette and I joined 6-9 thousand of our fellow patriots and gathered at the Capitol Lawn to vent our anger at an out-of-control government. CNN estimated the crowd at 2000, but we know how they lie. There were hundreds of yellow Gadsden flags ("Don't Tread On Me") flying everywhere and cleverly worded signs from every corner of this great republic. They even captured yours truly wearing a white t-shirt, holding a sign and watching the nutty Paulistas yell at CNN's reporters. A few of them were truly frightened as the Paulistas screamed "state run media!" and surrounded them. This is me holding the left side of a banner and staring to my left:

Twenty minutes later I gathered some guys and we helped the CNN people get safely out of the screaming lunatics. Thanks Paulistas for the "9-11 Was An Inside Job" signs! Had Americans been able to stop obsessing over the color of Barack Obama's skin and instead paid more attention to his cultural identity, maybe he would not be in the White House today. The key to understanding him lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.

Like many educated intellectuals in postcolonial Africa, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was enraged at the transformation of his native land by its colonial conqueror. But instead of embracing the traditional values of his own tribal cultural past, he embraced an imported Western ideology, Marxism. I call such frustrated and angry modern Africans who embrace various foreign "isms", instead of looking homeward for repair of societies that are broken, African Colonials. On Rights and Health Care

What is a "right"?

The Free Legal Dictionary says: In a concrete legal sense, a power, privilege, demand, or claim possessed by a particular person by virtue of law.

In other words, a right is something to which you have a just claim, and it's enforceable by law.

Radio talk show host Neal Boortz wrote:

"Logic cannot support the premise that health care is a right. Health care is a service that is administered by another human being with the requisite skills and knowledge. To claim that health care is a "right" is to claim a right to the services of the health-care provider. In effect, this means you are claiming a "right" to a portion of that person's life – both a portion of the time already spent developing his skills, and a portion of the time spent practicing those skills on you.Only through a mutual agreement, a contract, can one person claim a right to a portion of another person's life. Anything beyond that is either charity or slavery."

Neal failed to mention that the person who uses "free" health care is also claiming a right to a portion of a total stranger's life, just another taxpayer. That stranger who pays confiscatory taxes to finance the knee surgery done on the recipient of the service has been ABUSED by the government on behalf of the person who had the surgery. His property, in the form of insanely high taxes (representing a portion of his life) has been unjustly seized to provide medical care for a total stranger.

To claim that you have a "right" to free health care, means that you are also claiming a "right" to a goodly portion of another person's life. There's no getting around that simple and obscene truth.

There's a reason that I've focused on the morality of the matter. Once the moral principle has been abandoned, the door is open for all matter of misuse, malfeasance, and eventual catastrophic failure. When the principle is abandoned we stop asking "should we even provide national free health care" and begin devising the best and most effective means for doing just that.

The poster Chuck is a smart conservative blogger ( http://chuckthinks.blogspot.com/ ) and a registered nurse. He has probably forgotten more about health care than most of us will ever know. He wrote:

"I don't think right is a good word to use. I think there is maybe a moral obligation to ensure that people do not die of a treatable illness irregardless of ability to pay. It has always been my opinion that we would save money giving people basic health insurance. Anyone who does not think we already have universal health care is fooling themselves. People that do not have insurance wait until they are sick and then go to the Emergency Room (where I work). Their care then costs us considerably more. We pay for this either through government programs or by writing off the cost of the visit. Either way it is using resources."

As an conscientious ER nurse, Chuck has skipped ahead as a matter of practicality and thinks that providing health insurance will save money. I disagree for two reasons. Insurance for the medically indigent will morph out of control for political reasons in no time flat! EVERY Democrat politician--and half the Republicans--will promise to fatten the state provided benefits to buy votes. It's just as predictable as gravity.

By providing the medically indigent with health insurance we've induced the moral hazard. Both the politician who ultimately controls the purse strings, and the non-paying patient have something to gain by gaming the "free" health insurance system.

There MUST be some sort of co-pay involved with walking into the ER for health care that is commensurate with services rendered.

I've only scratched the surface of the socialized debate by focusing on the moral principles involved. In the coming days as this debate heats up it will be ESSENTIAL to remember what's motivating the politicians who are trying to sell you socialized medicine.

Power-Once the politician controls your health care he also controls you. The person who feels indebted to a politician will cast his vote for that same gutter-dwelling scallywag. How do you think a pile of rancid human debris like Ted Kennedy maintains his Senate seat?

A socialized medical system will permanently empower the Democrat Party and will cause a death spiral of our economy into socialism. Nothing less than the future of our country is at stake in this debate.

Public Enemy #1, The ACLU!

I wrote this approximately five years ago while recuperating from a bad accident. So I had some time on my hands to watch the news and fume--through a cloud of pain killers of course. :-) While some of the details may have changed over time, the fact remains that the ACLU--and it's activist friends on the bench--are doing real and severe damage to our country.

The American Civil Liberties Union is at war with the United States of America. On their own website they claim to be "our nations guardian of liberty." They also claim,"our job is to conserve America's original civic values-the Constitution and the Bill of Rights."

If you are an illegal alien trying to get a drivers license or welfare benefits, a local deviant attempting to view internet pornography at a public library, a Muslim radical hell-bent on the mass murder of U.S. citizens, an American left-wing radical calling for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government, a supporter of racial discrimination (aka "Affirmative Action"), or a child molesting member of the North American Man/Boy Love Association you can count on the support of the ACLU. They got your back !

In February of 2005 U.S. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner(R-Wis) cosponsored H.R.418, the REAL ID Act. Along with the construction of a border fence between San Diego and Mexico, the bill calls for federalizing rules for obtaining drivers licenses. It requires states to demand proof of legal residence before issuing a drivers license. By limiting access to licenses, illegal aliens will have a more difficult time defrauding the state and federal welfare system or voting in U.S. elections.

H.R.418 also makes it far more difficult for terrorists to get a license due to information sharing agreements between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico that are built into the bill. The September 11 terrorists had more than thirty driver's licenses between them, which they routinely used in preparations for the attacks on Washington and New York.

The ACLU started a letter writing campaign to stop H.R.418 calling it "anti-immigrant." The absurdity of such a statement is mind-boggling! They claim that nationwide driver's license standards and information sharing between states violates the "rights" of illegal aliens ("undocumented workers" to the ACLU) and terrorist suspects (Muslim victims of American imperialism no doubt). Just what "rights" do illegals and terrorists have ?

They also claim that the new license will be used as a national ID card against U.S. citizens. That's a problem that can be addressed seperately in committee or by the amendment process.
The ACLU's timing is suspect though. When Democrats or the UN call for gun registration lists, the ACLU is no where to be found ! No surprise. They don't believe in the rights of individuals to keep and bear arms. The only people who bring their weapons in for registration and inevitable confiscation are law-abiding citizens. The ACLU doesn't seem to have any time for them. I guess it depends on what list you appear.

Securing our borders and shutting down illegal immigration and access to the American welfare system is step one in winning the war on Islamic terrorism. The ACLU will probably fight this all the way to the Supreme Court.

"I don't believe in anarchistic violence, but in directed violence. That would be violence directed at the institutions which perpetuate capitalism, racism, and sexism, and the people who are the appointed guardians of those institutions, and accompanied by popular support."

Lynn Stewart said this in an interview with the New York Times in 1995. Ms. Stewart is a lawyer and a self-described radical leftist/revolutionary, and if you removed the words "racism" and "sexism" from her statement, and substituted "Zionism" and "Christianity", Osama Bin Laden could have written the EXACT same thing ! She is associated with the Center for Constitutional Rights. They are a radical left-wing group of lawyers commited to anti-American causes.

According to David Horowitz (a former leader of the New Left movement), their agenda is to dismantle the U.S. Constitution in a revolutionary future, but also to use it in the present as a radical weapon to weaken the American state.

This goes far in explaining why liberals see 1st Amendment issues in submerging crucifixes in jars of urine and throwing "AIDS" tainted blood on audiences. While at the same time, they can't seem to find their voice to oppose the McCain-Feingold Act, which limited actual political free spech. But I digress. Back to Lynn Stewart.

The mastermind and religious leader behind the 1993 World Trade Center bombing was the "blind sheik", Omar Abdel Rahman. In his book "Unholy Alliance", David Horowitz tells us that Stewart's fellow radicals William Kunstler and Ramsey Clark (an attorney for Saddam Hussein) convinced Lynn Stewart to represent the blind skeik. Ms. Stewart was later convicted of aiding and abetting a terrorist by smuggling messages between Mr. Rahman and his terrorist followers in Egypt. Thankfully we were spared the gory details.

Enter the ACLU, who immediately issued press releases in her defense, calling her a "persecuted civil libertarian." To this day the ACLU continues to call Lynn Stewart's conviction a "troubling precedent."

I suppose to the ACLU there is no such thing as treason!

Extraordinary Rendition is a policy started by the Clinton Administration (and continued by the Bush Administration) where we round up terrorists and those suspected of terrorism and send them to another country for more aggressive questioning than we are willing to do ourselves. Cofer Block, former U.S. coordinator for counter-terrorism said in 2003 that with more than 3000 al-Qaida terrorists in prison in over 100 countries, countless attacks were stopped.

I wonder how those countries got the information to stop those attacks ? Do you think the terrorists gave up the useful intelligence after losing a friendly game of rock-paper-scissors? George Tenet, former CIA director, admitted to the rendition of at least 70 terrorists. Countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have no moral objections to torture, and recieve a treasure trove of useful information from these terrorists.

In America we weigh our objections to this practice against the very real possibility of mass murder inflicted by these monsters on an American city! The rendition policy is far from perfect, but given the circumstances it's the ONLY responsible choice to make.

The ACLU of course vehemently opposes this "outsourcing of torture." On March 1st, 2005 they filed a lawsuit in Illinois against Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld on behalf four Iraqis and four Afghans. The ACLU calls them "victims of torture" in U.S. run facilities like Abu Ghraib. It's possible that our rendition policy and the Abu Ghraib "offense of Muslim manhood" policy have saved tens of thousands of American lives due to the information we have recieved. Thankfully we will never know. Maybe these policies enable us to "connect the dots." Do you remember that insipid little refrain being pompously spouted by Richard Ben-Veniste and Jamie Gorelick ? Gorelick was the architect of the wall that prevented the FBI and CIA from sharing terroist related intelligence prior to September 11. Well, we are now connecting the dots.

The ACLU also supports and defends the rights of the "dirty bomber" Jose Padilla. Radio talk show host Neal Boortz calls him "Osama Bin Lopez." A convert to Islam, Senor Padilla recieved al-Qaida training on how to wire dirty bombs. This is a combination of traditional high explosives and highly radioactive material. U.S. authorities were convinced Padilla intended to build one of these bombs when he was arrested on May 8, 2002 at O'Hare airport in Chicago. Properly utilized, these radiological bombs can cause a staggering number of deaths ! Former Attorney General John Ashcroft arrested him and held him indefinitely as an enemy combatant.

The ACLU's response ? They were far more concerned that Mr. Padilla's due process rights were being violated. They continue to insist that because he's an American citizen he has rights that other terrorists do not. Novel reasoning, coming from the ACLU.

On their own website the ACLU airs New York Times editorials calling for the release of all Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detainees, claiming that they were "illegally detained and tortured." These bad guys were caught on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan wearing their pajamas, which is not a national military uniform last I checked. Therefore the protections of the Geneva Convention DO NOT apply to them. It is arguably legal to shoot them on site.

The ACLU is actively pursuing the "case" of these terrorist detainees at Gitmo.

Freedom loving Cubans are routinely shot by Fidel Castro's henchmen as they attempt to swim to the freedom of the U.S military base at Gitmo. The ACLU's murderous Muslim "clients" are dying to kill Americans, while nearby Cubans are dying to become Americans. I'll bet the irony is lost on ACLU and their "Uncle Fidel."

Right now the ACLU is hard at work helping radical Islamists everywhere beat the American legal system. In their myopic anti-American zeal, the ACLU and their friends in the world left fail to see the big picture...If radical Islam succeeds in destroying America, the ACLU and their atheistic fellow travelers will be the first group lined up and shot! Or beheaded, as radical Muslim preferences would have it. They'd be followed quickly by all "non-essential" Christians and Jews.

If the ACLU were a touch more prescient they would occassionally support the American system that actually allows their form of sedition. No such luck.

In the 1960's and 70's people of conscience everywhere fought hard to end racial and sexual discrimination in hiring practices. It was an essential feature of the overall civil rights movement. In the immortal words of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.,"we should not be judged by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character."

Who can possibly improve on that ?

In that spirit, a black man named Ward Connerly, founder and Chairman of the American Civil Rights Institute, spearheaded the California Civil Rights Initiative (Proposition 209) in 1996. Proposition 209 prohibited all state universities and private institutions that recieve government grants from considering race, sex or ethnicity for admission purposes or hiring. The voters of California overwhelmingly approved it.

Doesn't this sound like the epitome of fairness ? Not to the ACLU. They immediately attacked Prop. 209 and filed suit against it on behalf of the bills opponents on the far left. Mark Rosenbaum, legal director of the ACLU of Southern California, said that Prop. 209 "doesn't just move minorities and women to the back of the bus, it boots them off altogether." WHAT ?!

The ACLU and it's comrades actively support a system of racial and sexual discrimination against white and Asian men. This policy is euphemistically called "Affirmative Action." To this day they continue to fight Prop. 209 and fight FOR racial and sexual discrimination (Affirmative Action) whenever it rears it's ugly head. So much for their claim to be the "champion of civil rights."

In recent years there has been an uproar concerning the availablity of hard-core pornography on the internet at the public libraries. In an attempt to limit children's exposure (pardon the pun) to public library porno, citizen's groups and congress have pushed to install porn-blocking software in many public libraries around the country.

In 2003 the ACLU filed suit against the installation of porn blocking software on behalf of a group of librarians (no kidding) and a Rhode Island based health information website which was blocked. The ACLU claimed that the installation of porn blocking software denied citizens (children included) access to some "men's health websites" and raised "serious 1st Amendment issues." How dare those citizens block acces to Robert Maplethorpe's "bullwhip diaries"!

The Supreme Court ruled against the ACLU and found that the blocking software should stay in place on the condition that the filters are deactivated for any adult user who asks.

Are the Rhode Island peep show owners going to picket outside of the libraries protesting the loss of business? Do Rhode Islanders now have to pass a law that states that all adult porn viewers at public libraries must keep BOTH hands above the keyboards at all times ? The ACLU would probably fight that one based on freedom of "expression."

Thanks to the ACLU, children are no longer safe in some libraries.

By supporting children's "1st Amendment rights" to view internet porn, the ACLU has progressed from being merely anti-American, to viciously anti-social.

Of all the outrages commited by the ACLU, this one is the most horrifying. They are now defending the North American Man/Boy Love Association. On the NAMBLA website they claim to be a political, civil rights and educational organization, helping to educate society about the positive and beneficial nature of man/boy love.

Before I wretch, let me explain who they really are. They're homosexual child rapists. This is an organization of homosexual men who meet to share information and new techniques on the best way to "abuse" young boys. They are monsters to the very core. The English language is inadequate to describe the abject horror of this behavior. It would require the invention of new adjectives. For now your gut feeling will have to suffice.

On October 1, 1997 Charles Jaynes 25, and Salvatore Sicari 24, raped and murdered 10 year old Jeffery Curly of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

After these animals were convicted, the boys' family sued NAMBLA. The family claimed that NAMBLA and it's website incited the molestation and murder of Jeffery. Mr. Jaynes reportedly viewed the NAMBLA website just before killing the boy. He also had NAMBLA publications in his possession.

Enter the ACLU. John Roberts, executive director of the Massachusetts ACLU says, "for us it's a fundamental 1st Amendment case, it has to do with communications on a website, and material that does not promote any kind of criminal behavior whatsoever."

Oh really ? Even in the liberal cesspool of moral relativism known as Ted Kennedy's Massachusetts, promoting child molestation is against the law !

The boy's parents wanted access to NAMBLA membership lists, which the ACLU is trying to block. If the ACLU sends some staffers to New York, there's a Senator who would gladly lend them a few paper shredders to take care of those pesky membership lists. Even more outrageous, the ACLU will act as a surrogate for NAMBLA, allowing it's members to defend themselves in court while remaining anonymous! Just in case you weren't furious already. The Curleys were awarded $328 million by a superior court jury in a civil suit against Jaynes and Sicari. No telling how they will collect.

In medieval times the radicals and child molesters defended by the ACLU would probably be impaled on stakes outside the city walls or end up swinging on the gallows. How we deal with them today will be a determining factor in the future of our great republic.

By defending the "rights" of illegal aliens, communist radicals, "affirmative action" racists and Muslim radicals intending mass murder, the ACLU only exposes itself as anti-American...highly unpatriotic if you will.

By fighting hard to allow children access to Internet pornography, and defending a group of homosexual abusers of boys (NAMBLA), the ACLU descends into the murky abyss of inhumanity. This is the most explicit example of the degree to which the ACLU is at war with our country.

To ancient Hebrews (and some modern Jews) the worst possible fate that could befall a person was to die before accepting God. Their soul would be relegated to the valley of Gei Hinnom to be without God's presence. To later Christians, hell-fire and eternal damnation was the worst possible outcome.

President Obama once complained in a 2001 radio interview that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is a charter of "negative" freedoms and liberties. He whined that it limits what the government can "do to you, rather than what it can do for you." A while ago I posed the question, what is Obama after? The answer is becoming clearer by the day. He seems to have two goals:

1. Power-no matter what form it takes. Obama seems to prefer corporate fascism. Broadly defined, he's using private money and ownership of industry, and exerting GOVERNMENT control via the bailout loans. The Obama administration has learned from Juan Peron and Benito Mussolini how to take control over private enterprise and the free market without completely killing them. I think the Obama Administration and its fast-moving implementation of socialist policies is much, much bigger than the new President. This is an orchestrated machine which had detailed plans in place, step-by-step "to do" lists, if you will, ready to go the minute Obama was sworn into office.

The Supreme Court has reversed Judge Sotomayor in six instances where it granted certiorari to review an opinion she authored. In three of these reversals, the Court held that Judge Sotomayor erred in her statutory interpretation. I have heard that approximately 80% of her decisions have been reversed. Thus far I haven't been able to confirm that, so it should be treated as gossip for now. Do you think she'll do a good job?

While leading a mission to locate a high-level anti-coalition militia leader, Lieutenant Murphy demonstrated extraordinary heroism in the face of grave danger in the vicinity of Asadabad, Konar Province, Afghanistan. On 28 June 2005, operating in an extremely rugged enemy-controlled area, Lieutenant Murphy's team was discovered by anti-coalition militia sympathizers, who revealed their position to Taliban fighters. As a result, between 30 and 40 enemy fighters besieged his four-member team.

Demonstrating exceptional resolve, Lieutenant Murphy valiantly led his men in engaging the large enemy force. The ensuing fierce firefight resulted in numerous enemy casualties, as well as the wounding of all four members of the team. Ignoring his own wounds and demonstrating exceptional composure, Lieutenant Murphy continued to lead and encourage his men. When the primary communicator fell mortally wounded, Lieutenant Murphy repeatedly attempted to call for assistance for his beleaguered teammates.

Realizing the impossibility of communicating in the extreme terrain, and in the face of almost certain death, he fought his way into open terrain to gain a better position to transmit a call. This deliberate, heroic act deprived him of cover, exposing him to direct enemy fire. Finally achieving contact with his Headquarters, Lieutenant Murphy maintained his exposed position while he provided his location and requested immediate support for his team. In his final act of bravery, he continued to engage the enemy until he was mortally wounded, gallantly giving his life for his country and for the cause of freedom.

By his selfless leadership, courageous actions, and extraordinary devotion to duty, Lieutenant Murphy reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

A Memorial Day Tribute.

Tomorrow we pay tribute to those who gave their lives defending our great country. Whether these war dead were the victim of an unfortunate shell burst or died heroically in hand to hand combat or a cavalry charge, we owe them a few things:

1. We owe it to these brave men to protect the Constitutional freedom that they gave their last breath defending.

2. We owe it to them to NEVER forget their ultimate sacrifice!

The story of Michael Monsoor makes my heart swell to the bursting point with pride: Not only as a Navy veteran, but as an American. The surname Monsoor is an Arabic name. The federal budget deficit will be $1.84 trillion this year. That's about four times the record set just last year, The Associated Press says.

For every dollar that it spends, the government will borrow 46 cents.
Deficits will never fall below $500 billion any year between 2010 and 2019 - and the cumulative total will be $7.1 trillion.

That's deficits - the amount borrowed, and billed to our children and grandchildren, to pay for today's excesses.

If we don't go on this government spending spree, it has been argued, the recession might last another 10 years.

History suggests otherwise.

But even if it were true, how can we, in good conscience, do this? Why not bear the burden ourselves, instead of shifting it to future generations?

Debt service alone will impoverish just about everybody but the ultra-rich in the future - or gobble up money needed to provide legitimate government services.

Here's an oldy but goody. Put your drink down before reading this one. ;-)

A priest, a Pentecostal preacher and a Rabbi were talking one day when someone made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard. A real challenge would be to preach to a bear. So they decided they would all go out into the woods, find a bear, preach to it, and attempt to convert it.

Seven days later, they're all together to discuss the experience. Father Flannery, his arm in a sling and on crutches, goes first. 'Well,' he says, 'I went into the woods to find me a bear. And when I found him I began to read to him from the Catechism. Well, that bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap me around. So I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him and, Holy Mary Mother of God, he became as gentle a lamb. The bishop is coming out next week to give him first communion and confirmation.'

Reverend Billy Bob spoke next. He was in a wheelchair, with an arm and both legs in casts and he says, ' Well BROTHERS, I went out and I FOUND me a bear. And then I began to read to my bear from God's HOLY WORD! But that bear wanted nothing to do with me. So I took HOLD of him and we began to wrestle. We wrestled down one hill, UP another and DOWN another until we came to a creek. So I quickly DUNKED him and BAPTIZED his hairy soul. And just like you said, he became as gentle as a lamb. We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus.'

They both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed. He was in a body cast and traction with IV's and monitors running in and out of him. The rabbi looks up and says, 'Looking back on it, circumcision may not have been the best way to start.'

Cherishing Mussels and Despising Humans in Northeast Florida

A St. Johns "Riverkeeper" named Dan recently wrote a letter to my local liberal newspaper/fishwrap/catbox liner decrying the decision which allowed the citizens of Seminole County, Florida to withdraw an additional 5.5 million gallons per day. He claimed that "siphoning" (ya gotta love the imagery!) that much water would have "catastrophic results on the river's bio-diversity" and would kill clams and fish. That's a false claim to begin with, but Dan didn't display a scintilla of care that HUMAN BEINGS actually need that water. That's at the very heart of NE Florida's "water wars" over the St. Johns River and in my opinion drives much of the radical enviro movement. These radicals tend not to like human beings.

I'd love to know your opinions on the matter since my dogs just look at me funny, my wife thinks I'm kinda funny, and my daughter couldn't care either way! :-)

This was my reply to radical Dan:

This is an issue of basic humanity and even simpler math. Once you understand those basics, you'll know why you don't need the "results of the National Institutes of Health study" to allow Seminole county (the upstream source of the St. Johns River) to use water that comes from Seminole County!

Let's discuss basic humanity, which sadly seems in short supply. Are you prepared to allow your neighbors a veto power over YOUR water usage? Imagine if they had some sort of valve that they could turn off once they peeped at your meter. They could get together out in the street and say, "we think ole Dan and family have used enough water for the week. It's time to turn it off and let him appeal."

Now it's time for some simple math. Dan have you ever stopped to wonder just how much St. Johns River fresh water flows into the Atlantic Ocean in just one hour? All you have to do is stand at the base of the Buckman Bridge or on one of the high dunes ("bluffs") at the end of Monument Rd. to get a feel for the staggering flow of fresh water in just 5 minutes! Get your calculator...ready?

My numbers may be off by as much as 1o% because I'm eyeballing it, but this'll give you an idea of my point. An Olympic competition swimming pool is 50 meters (165 ft.) long, 25 meters (83 ft.) wide, and 8 feet deep. Multiply 165 x 83 x 8 = 109,560 cubic feet. There's approximately 7 gallons of water per cubic foot so you end up with 766,920 gallons per Michael Phelp's pool. Seminole County has been granted permission to use 5.5 million gallons/day.
That's roughly equivalent to 7.2 of those swimming pools full of water! This is the volume of water Seminole County has been given.

I've stood at Blount Island near the Dames Point Bridge and watched the seagulls and pelicans float by at 6-9 mph, and wondered at the STUPENDOUS amount of fresh water that flows into the world's 2nd largest body of salt water. How many of those swimming pools full of water flow into the Atlantic in one minute? We can only guess, but I think you'd be safe in guessing at least 20. Seminole County has been granted a drop of water from a GD barrell, and yet you and the other "Riverkeepers" would begrudge them that drop! It's tempting to blame the government schools for this level of abject stupidity, but all that's required is a $5 calculator.

Why did I take the time to point all of this out?

Increasingly I see our society getting away from the Founding Principles of freedom, minimal interference in the affairs of your neighbor, plain old Christian charity & tolerence, and I see us turning mean and petty with each other. This fight over a mere drop in a barrel of fresh water--the one thing we CANNOT live without--is the starkest example to date of mass hysteria and man's inhumanity towards his fellow man here in North Florida. If you are one of those who would begrudge your fellow human being fresh water given what you now know, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

My Answer To a Carbon Scold.

A while ago I was scolded by an enviro-radical on another website. I had mentioned that the "green" agenda had some of the hallmarks of a fascist movement and that I was beginning to tire of the constant pestering that the greenies engage in on a regular basis.

Boy oh boy did I ever open up a can of leftist whoopass and righteous indignation! A poster named Ginny, who writes gardening books, let me have it with both barrels--although I seriously doubt she owns a gun. From recycling to burning less gas (I am a businessman with work trucks) she told me that my carelessness with "Mother Earth" would be my "sad legacy."

This was my reply to carbon scold Ginny:

The modern environmental movement has gone over-the-top radical. It grew out of some very well-intentioned policies and people who wanted nothing more than to keep things (emissions, waste disposal, etc.) as "clean" as possible. To any sane person that's still a laudible goal. Now it's become a religion where people will scold people based on a few ENORMOUS lies and utterly mistaken notions. The whole idea of a "carbon footprint" is laughably absurd, and it's become very dangerous as a vehicle to control people's lives. Here are a few indisputable facts that you're not going to like, but they are facts nonetheless.:

1. CO2 is NOT a pollutant! It is the gas that every animal exhales, and every plant inhales. Without it you can say goodbye to life on planet Earth. It's a trace gas at less than four parts per ten thousand, and the more of it we have, the greener the Earth becomes! That's a fact. Question, which creates more CO2? A runner on a 6 mile run, or a car on a 12 mile drive? The answer matters.

2. CO2 is a PATHETIC heat trapping gas due to it's molecular structure. In the world of global warming gases, it's as weak as they come. You could increase the "carbon loading" (banal expression) of the atmosphere twenty times over with NO appreciable temperature difference. There are in fact very effective heat trapping gases, CO2 isn't one of them.
Ginny with all due respect, this new religion you're practicing is based on some outright lies. Traditional religion also has some beliefs that many may find hard to swallow, but in the final analysis, the existence of G-d can neither be proven or disproven. The same cannot be said about the "carbon myth." It's an outright fraud. That's why I didn't take well to being scolded by you. Your beliefs in that regard are purile.

I wish that were so. If the "greenies" would be content with being just another religious cult, I swear I'd contribute money to their cause! This entire fraudulent agenda is finding it's way into our pocketbooks at light speed, from carbon taxes on utilities to Mercury-laced lightbulbs. The green agenda IS government force on steroids. That's why I'm so vocal about this "movement." It's laden with fanaticism based on bad information and outright lies. It has some of the hallmarks of a fascist/cult movement. Based on your posts, I can tell that you've been blessed with an abundance of G-d given intelligence, so I have hope that you'll be able to take the facts that I've given you, and maybe be able to see the light some day. Passing Thoughts on Our New President's Trespasses

When you raise taxes on one group, and increase the welfare rolls dramatically, you're guilty of abusing both groups. When you push government control of medical care and the crazy taxes that inevitably come with socialized medicine (regardless of the euphemism de jour), it's a form of tyranny. When you put us TRILLIONS of dollars into debt-so deep that it becomes generational theft-you've abused future generations and stolen a good portion of the American dream from them.

The inevitable inflation and economic stagnation resulting from Barack Obama's nouveau-fascist economic policies are going to make Carter's years look like child's play. What foreign or domestic investor will feel secure putting his wealth into an American company when they know the President of the United States can enter the scene and nullify contract law and debt obligations on a moments notice? He's behaving like a wannabe dictator of a banana republic!

When you tranfer wealth in an egregious fashion from one group to another in the name of "social justice", all you're doing is causing class hatred, strife, and predictable law-breaking where the tax code is concerned. It's theft, pure and simple. When the White House and other congressional Kleptocrats (RINOS included) attempt to control the salaries and/or bonuses of Wall Street types in a dictatorial fashion, I wonder what the hell country I'm in!

The cap and trade energy policy (Cap and Tax) that the left is pushing is just more kleptocracy in the final analysis. It'll dramatically increase the cost of energy on everyone.

This "government on steroids" approach has NEVER, EVER turned out well for the people, but it's the BOMB for the politicians!
